Swarovski Cockpit
Rhino command: JDS
The cockpit displays various information about the current workpart. This window can be docked like every Rhino panel to every side or can also free float. It shows the amount of crystals in 3D, the colorways and in case of enabled PLM the BOM from the connected style.
In the first line the current colorway is displayed. A colorway represents the main color of the design. With this tool the colors of the crystals can be switched.
Colorway Dropdown: If more than one colorway is defined, with this dropdown the current displayed colorway can be switched. If different crystal colors are defined per colorway, also the color will switch in 3D.
Add colorway: This button adds a new colorway to the Rhino document. Depending if PLM is enabled either a dialog with crystal and metal colors or a basic naming dialog appears.
Remove colorway: This button removes the current displayed colorway.
In the list the BOM (Bill of material) is visualized. If the PLM is enabled there will be the BOM from PLM merged with the real geometry in 3D. In the column “PLM” it shows the quantity from the PLM-BOM and in the column “Count” the real quantity from this Rhino document.
The column “Info” displays additional information like the volume and area of the assigned geometry.
With the right mouse click on an entry, a context menu is displayed which provides additional functionality beside the Rhino commands.
Crystal Components
The BOM entry of a crystal component corresponds to a 3D geometry in the Rhino document which was added via the Swarovski Crystal Component library. The icon is a small preview of the crystal cut.
The context menu for the crystal component is as following:
Insert Jewel Component: This component is used for the command Jewel Add command which will add this component to the Rhino document.
Remove BOM Entry: If there are no more such components in the Rhino document the quantity is zero and with this command the BOM entry can be totally removed.
Select Jewel Components: Selects all instances of this component in the document.
Add Jewel Components to BOM: Assigns components or simple geometry to this BOM entry.
TIP: If the assigned component differs from the BOM entry, the plugin asks if it should change the crystal
Remove Jewel Components from BOM: Removes the assignment of a normal geometry from this BOM entry. Components which are inserted from the Swarovski Component library cannot be removed from the corresponding BOM entry.
Insert Jewel Contour: The contour of the component will be inserted on the X-Y plane around the origin. This contour can be used to generate custom contours or any other geometry.
Register Custom Contour: Registers / Unregisters custom contours for the creation of cavities.
Register Custom Glue Contour: Registers / Unregisters custom contours for the creation of the glue pocket of cavities.
Production Items
The production item represents the outcome of a design and what will be casted.
This item type is identified by the following icons:
Production Item without a 3D geometry attached in PLM
Production Item with a 3D geometry in PLM
The context menu for the Production Item is as following:
Assign Geometry to BOM: Assigns a selected geometry to this BOM entry and defines it as Production Item.
ATTENTION: If more than one geometry is assigned to the same BOM entry, the plugin assumes that every geometry is the same. This is important, because the volume and the surface area will be calculated from one geometry and multiplied by the quantity!
Unassign Geometry from BOM: Removes the assignment to the BOM entry from this geometry.
Remove BOM Entry: If there are is no geometry assigned in the document the quantity is zero and with this command the BOM entry can be totally removed.
Insert Casting Part: If there is 3D geometry available in PLM, the geometry can be inserted into the document and reused (e.g. Swan Tag). During the import the Do-not-Upload Mark will be set.
Select Objects: Selects geometry in the document which is assigned to this BOM entry.
Hide Objects: Hides geometry in the document which is assigned to this BOM entry.
Show Objects: Shows geometry in the document which is assigned to this BOM entry.
Refresh Volume: Refresh the volume and area information in the column “Info”. If more than one geometry is assigned, the plugin checks if the geometry is the same. The information in the “Info” column represents only one geometry!
Add Second Surface Area: Calculates and stores the area of selected objects to this BOM entry to provide information for partial plating.
Add Third Surface Area: Calculates and stores the area of selected objects to this BOM entry to provide information for partial plating.
External Components
The External Component represents a geometry which is part of the design, but not part of the production. This can be a chain, a closure, etc.
This item type is identified by the following icons:
External Component without a 3D geometry attached in PLM.
External Component with a 3D geometry attached in PLM.
The context menu for the External Component is as following:
Insert Geometry into 3D: If a 3D geometry is attached in PLM, this geometry can be imported into the Rhino document (same as Import Supplier Part command).
Register Geometry in Centric: Register and uploads 3D geometry to PLM (same as Register Supplier Part command).
Remove BOM Entry: If there are is no geometry assigned in the document the quantity is zero and with this command the BOM entry can be totally removed.
Select Objects: Selects geometry in the document which is assigned to this BOM entry.
Refresh Volume: Refresh the volume and area information in the column “Info”.
