Create Casting Part (Cavities)

Rhino command: JewelCombine

With this command the cavities and the pips will be combined with the base geometry to get the finished casting part for the production. The JDS can produce different kind of cavities depending on the material or the usage.

Rendering Cavity: Specially for rendering, not usable for production.
Metal Cavity: Cavities for metal (casting) parts, which will be plated after casting.
Ceralun Cavity: Cavities for ceralun. Usable to make a negativ stamping form for creating kind of cavities in ceralun.

In the dialog the current used geometries are listed with associated crystals, pips and builder settings. By default every geometry with all jewels and pips are generated, but it can be controlled with the checkboxes in front of every line.
With a right click in the line of the geometry, the cavity type can be changed.
With a right click in the line of crystal components, the cavity settings can be adapted.
In the column “Info” a brief summary of the cavity settings are displayed. If no parenthesis are in the line the settings are default values. If the line starts with (TC) the settings are changed settings from the server. If the line starts with (User) the settings were modified in this Rhino session and they will be lost after Rhino closes.

Select All: All checkboxes are enabled and all modifications are made.
Clear All: All checkboxes are disabled.
Load Default: If there are changed settings from the user, the default settings from the server can be restored.
Save Default: If there are changed settings, the settings can be stored on the server for all users in the same department. This functionality is only available for privileged users!
Do not Boolean: All subtracting or adding boolean are skipped and the subtracted or added bodies are added to the document.
Create: The cavities, pips or builder settings are generated.
Close: Closes the dialog without changes.

During creation of the casting part, the original geometry will not be affected. A new geometry will be generated, which must be finally assigned to the casting part in the BOM in the Swarovski Cockpit. Depending on the cavity type the resulting geometry is on a specific layer (see Layer Handling).

TIP: Do not delete the original geometry, because if changes are required,
they can be made on this geometry and the cavities can be created again.

Layer Handling

During working with the plugin, several layers will be created automatically. This layer should not be changed, because the plugin reuses the layer and expects the layer in a specific order and name. We made additional color layers, because within Keyshot the layers are used for material assignment, so it is very easy to assign a specific color to one ore more crystals, because of this layer management.

Layers created:
Swarovski Components: Below this layer additional article and size layers are created.
Swarovski Colors: Below this layer additional color layers are created. This layers are used for Keyshot.
Swarovski Rendering: On this layer the result of rendering cavity creation will be placed.
Swarovski Metal Cavity: On this layer the result of metal cavity creation will be placed.
Swarovski Ceralun Cavity: On this layer the result of ceralun cavity creation will be placed.
