Create Cup Mesh
Rhino command: JewelCreateCupMesh
This tool creates a structure of stone cups an fillets as a closed polysurface geometry, which can be used directly to print in 3D. With the parameter there can be created any type of cavity and every size of the fillet.
The creation and boolean of the closed polysurface will use all CPU cores available.
Dialog Description
Link Creator: This is a sub tool of the create fillet command to create automatically crystal links. The created links can afterwards edited with the commands Add Jewel Link / Remove Jewel Link. The algorithm tries to find the most necessary links and wants to prevent links between crystals with a gap in between.
Maximum allowed gap: The link creator will never create links if the gap between crystals is greater than this value.
Paramter: The parameters controls the look of the links or fillets between the stone cups.
Diameter: This is the diameter in the middle of the fillet. The start and end diameter depends on the size of the stone and the height of the cup.
Angle: This angle controls how the the fillet is bend between the cups. 0° means it is a straight connection between the cups. An angle > 0° means the fillet is bend more or less to the center of the geometry. This prevents crossover problems with smaller and bigger cups.
Cup appearance: In this section the look of the cups can be controlled.
Diameter ratio: The diameter ratio defines the maximum diameter on the top of the cup (without cavity) and depends on the diameter of the used crystal.
Heigh ratio: The height ratio extends the depth of the cup in order to have enough space for the cavity and the fillet connection.
Cavity type: Used cavity type to create the cavity in the cup.
Control: With this controls you can create a preview, bake the fillets or close the dialog.
Preview: If you want to see a preview of the fillets press this button and on first time the program asks for some crystal to show the fillet. At this point not more than 100 crystals are allowed in the selection.
Bake: To create the fillets and boolean them press the bake button and select the crystals to create the fillets for. At this point no more than 2000 crystals are allowed. If you have more than 2000 crystals in the document, split the generation of the fillets in two ore more meaningful parts. The fillets at the connection are created only the half way. If you do not want this half fillets, delete the link and create your own connection geometry between those two parts afterwards.
